This past weekend we had a great road trip. Friday we drove to Chicago, well actually Joe drove. Jason, Misha, Christina and I read, slept and watched gardenstate on my laptop. We arrived at about 2 am and got up and caught the 9:20 express train into Chicago. We hit the town running. First on our list of sights was the Sears Tower. It was very tall.
Next we visited the Chicago Art Institute which I believe was the highlight of the sightseeing trip. We saw the 'Old Gutairst' and the first pointalist by Serat, it was huge. We saw famous paintings by Van Gogh and Monet. It was really too much to take in, we didn't have time to appreciate one until you saw another great painting. We were disapointed because American Gothic and NightHawks was on loan to another art musem until April. It would have been a nice to have viewed those in person.
After the Art Institute Joe and Misha went to a fancy pants Russian tea shop. They thought that it would be cool to sit around and talk about all the art that we saw. It was. But Jason and I saw through it. The people in there treated them really rude because they weren't rolling in money. As his own personal form of revenge Joe is working on a short story derived from the encounter at Russia tea time. I think it is going to be spiced up with Misha being an undercover spy and the walls being blown down in the end with some explosive tea bags. The high class literatue of the story spiraled out of control when we all started chimeing it with our ideas.
Next we treked to see the great lake. We stuck our heads in the Field Musem and the House of Blues but did not have the funds to tour them. We could not resist going in the Virgin mega store. Wow there is tons of music in there and this huge Boaders book store. I love bookstores.
Overall a very cool trip to the big city. One thing that impacted me was seeing all of the people in the city. I am amazed at God's creation in us as humans, so many different faces all people so unique. Knowing that God loves all of them makes me wonder if they know. They should know. I pray that God continues to teach me his love and compassion of all people saved and lost and will help me to love people in a God like way.
